One solution to this problem is to manually stop the update service.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Open the command prompt with administrator rights, type net stop wuauserv, and press enter to stop the Windows Update service.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Then delete the contents of the C:\\Windows\\Temp and C:\\Windows\\SoftwareDistribution directories. Open the Run window with Windows+R. Enter the path %UserProfile%\\App-Data\\Local\\Temp and delete all content from this directory as well.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Switch back to the command line and start the service again with net start wuauserv.
