What’s new in Edge

The browser version 88 will add many new features to Microsoft’s increasingly popular browser. One of the most interesting of these improvements is the possibility of tabs being placed underneath each other on the side of the screen, rather than on top, side by side.

This change is particularly useful for owners of 21:9 aspect ratio (or even wider) monitors, but it can also be useful for 16:9 screens, as it gives more useful space for displaying web pages.

More importantly, however, when it comes to managing tabs, sleep tabs are introduced; these are, by definition, the tabs that are put in the background at any given moment. If a site is not looked at for an extended period of time, the browser can use this solution to prevent the web page from taking up unnecessary resources (primarily memory and processor time).
