Why can’t I sign in to my account in Windows 10?

September 25, 2021 by Temp Email

Users often report that after starting Windows 10, they are greeted with a screen message warning them that their account cannot be logged in and they have been given a temporary user profile. This indicates that the user profile stored on the PC has been corrupted. Microsoft suggests different solutions to fix the problem.

First – as the message suggests – log out and log back in. To do this, click the Logout button. When the message appears again, restart the machine in safe mode and log in with your original profile. If nothing changes, you need to turn off Windows Defender services.

To do this, type services in the search field and click on the result. Find the entry Windows Defender Complex Threat Protection in the list, right-click it and select Properties. In the Startup Type drop-down box, select Disable and click OK to accept. Also, disable the Windows Defender antivirus service. Start the machine in normal mode and try to log on with the original profile.

If successful, we need to turn back on the two services that were previously turned off. If you still get the message, you need to create a new user account with administrator rights. Log in with the new account and try to fix the corrupted profile by copying your personal data from the old profile to the newly created one. Microsoft explains the procedure in a guide at bit.ly/3pJYmDJ.
