How can I disable or limit notifications in Microsoft Edge?

There is an increasing number of websites that send notifications – which would be fine, but moderation is a problem and most users want this service in the middle of their back. That’s why Microsoft Edge gives you the option to turn off notifications altogether, or at least make them less distracting.

However, Microsoft turns this option off by default, so if you want to use it, you have to enable it separately.

You can do this by going to Settings | Cookies & site permissions | Notifications. If you want to turn off notifications completely, you need to turn off the Prompt before sending the option.

Alternatively, you can enable Silent Notifications requests, in which case websites will send you a notification but it will not appear automatically. The notification will then be indicated by a bell icon in the address bar, which you should click to view the message.
