Everyone probably knows that the fastest way to shut down Windows programs is to press [Alt+F4], but it is also possible to shut down the whole operating system using the same method. First, send all windows to the taskbar using [Win+D] and then press [Alt+F4]; a window will now appear where you can press OK to shut down the machine after selecting Shutdown.
