Many vulnerabilities in the WIFI standard

A New York University researcher has discovered some problems with the WIFI rule. More than a few: twelve of them. In the past, it was not often that dozens of problems were discovered with a single piece of software or technology. Together, the vulnerabilities have been dubbed FragAttacks.

Three of the flaws are related to the design of IEEE 802.11, while the other nine are related to the actual application of the standard. The vulnerabilities allow an attacker to observe network traffic and distribute data in any direction.

This means that not only can information be stolen, but malicious code can also be injected into the network. The flaw also affects WEP, WPA, WPA2, and WPA3 encryption, so as things stand, it is not possible to create a fully secure network with WIFI.

Updates have already been prepared and released by the manufacturers, but it is questionable whether or not some support for older products is expected. In any case, the website https://www.fragattacks. com/#notpatched has some useful tips on how to protect yourself if the manufacturer has not (yet) provided protection.
