Master Boot Record (MBR) or GUID partition table (GPT)?

Windows 10 supports two different partition variants, MBR and GPT. If you want to know which one your computer has, you can quickly find out.

Hit Windows+R to open the Run window, type: diskmgmt.msc, and click OK to approve. In the Disk Management window that now opens, right-click on the desired disk in the lower-left corner, for example, Disk 0, and select Properties. On the Volumes tab, under Disk Data, you will find the information you are looking for.

The other solution requires the command line. In the search box, type cmd, click Run as administrator in the right-hand column and approve the question about controlling user accounts with a yes. Type diskpart and hit enter. When DISKPART> appears at the beginning of the input line, type list disk and press enter. A list of all the disks is now displayed. If there is an asterisk in the GPT column, then the GUID partition table is in use, if not, then the MBR is in use.
