How can I print double-sided without a duplex printer?

Few users have a printer with a so-called duplex unit that can print on both sides. This is typically a feature that is specific to more expensive models, perhaps intended for a corporate environment and is rarely added to the average home printer. With a little trickery, you can still produce such a print – though in two steps.

Open the document in Word that you want to print double-sided. Click on the File menu and select Print from the left-hand column. Then, under Print, all pages in the Options area, open the drop-down list, and select Print odd pages only at the bottom of the list. These pages will be the first pages of our print job.

Then click the Print button to start the print job. When finished, place the paper stack upside down in the paper tray of the printer to print the even pages. Then open the Print menu again. This time, select Print only even pages from the drop-down menu. After one click on the Print button, the document will be printed double-sided.

If you feel unsure, make a short test print, for example, 3 pages, first. This will avoid having to try several times with a 100-page essay to get everything in place.
