When will Windows 10 retire?

Microsoft has announced that it will continue to provide product support for Windows 10 for another four years, until 2025. This is not really surprising, given that the system announced in 2015 has a ten-year lifecycle – but until now we didn’t really know what the fate of Windows would be.

After all, the Redmond company hasn’t said a word about a new version since the release of Windows 10, with all the new features coming in Windows 10 in one or two major updates a year.

Of course, it was obvious that Windows 10 would be replaced by a successor system sooner or later, but until now there was no way of knowing what scenario to expect. While there are still no exact details, a three-year transition period seems likely, with the next Windows arriving in 2022.
