Better Wi-Fi network with WiFi 6E

The next version of the Wi-Fi standard has been on the horizon since May, and now Wi-Fi 6E has been announced.

The biggest advantage of the new standard is that it introduces a new frequency band for communication so that in the future our devices will be able to use not only 2.4 and 5 GHz, but also 6 GHz.

In the 2.4 and 5 GHz bands, the standard will allow a total of 540 Hz of the spectrum, and in the 6 GHz band, 480 Hz of the spectrum will be available. This will almost double the theoretical bandwidth and will have the added benefit that networks close to each other will not interfere with each other in residential use.

The first Wi-Fi 6E-enabled router has already been launched by Netgear – but it remains to be seen before the technology is widely deployed. This is because Wi-Fi 6E does not work with old devices, so it will require a replacement of the equipment fleet. This is a costly exercise, so it’s rarely worth it in the home.
